This Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) explains how information is collected, used and disclosed by Travel-ING On Tourism Cooperative with respect to your access and use of our services, whether through our website (located at www.ingon.ca) or our mobile application (Travel INGON App) (together referred to below as “Travel INGON” or the “Service”).

What Information Do We Collect?

We collect certain information when you connect to or use Travel INGON in various ways. This information may identify you as a person, or be non-personal information, and is either collected automatically or as a result of your specific input. All information collected in any way is referred to collectively in this Policy as “Information.”

Website Visit

When you visit www.ingon.ca, our website platform automatically collects information such as your IP address, browser type/version, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamp through standard site cookies. We do not run third-party advertising trackers or web beacons on our website.

The website includes the following forms, which collect the Information noted:

You may be required to provide the following Information when you install the Travel INGON App or sign up for the Service: your email address, your username, your gender, and your profile picture. We automatically collect the time you connect (a “timestamp”).

Each time you log in to the App, we collect your approximate geographic location and IP address as part of the standard login process.

If you sign up or log in via Facebook, we collect your name, your email address, and your Facebook profile picture – limited to the email andpublic_profile permissions. We do not request your friends list or birthday. If you sign up via Google Sign-In, we collect your name, email address, and Google profile picture for the same purpose. If you want us to delete data we received from Facebook or Google about you, please submit a request using our Data Deletion Instructions.

Social Media

By connecting your Travel INGON account to your Facebook or Google account for the purpose of logging in, you consent to the release of the Information described above from that account to Travel INGON while the accounts remain connected. You can disconnect this at any time viaFacebook Settings → Apps and Websites or your Google Account permissions.

Location Information

In addition to the approximate location collected at login, the App's “Near Me” feature uses your device's precise GPS location, sent to our server in real time while the feature is in use, so we can show you nearby points of interest. You control this through your device's location permission settings.

Photos

The App lets you capture or upload selfies and images at points of interest, and a profile picture. These are stored so they can be shown back to you within your account.

Platforms

In the course of providing our Service through third-party platforms, such as the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, those platforms may collect Information about you or receive Information from us in order to provide or analyze their services. These platforms are operated by companies not affiliated with or controlled by us, and we are not responsible for their practices – please review their own privacy policies.

How Do We Use the Information We Collect?

To administer our website and App and provide the services or information you request
To process membership applications, donations, and workshop registrations
To show you nearby historical points of interest and let you check in with a photo
To let you complete challenges and read articles
To respond to your emails, submissions, questions, and requests, and provide support
To monitor and analyze usage and improve the App and website
To send you confirmations, updates, security alerts, and administrative messages
To help prevent fraud or other misuse

We may use your email address to send transactional messages (e.g. account confirmations) and, if you've signed up for our newsletter or app alerts, promotional messages (e.g. new content, event notifications). You can opt out of promotional messages at any time – see “Opting Out” below.

With Whom Do We Share Your Information?

We do not sell your personal information. We may share Information as follows:

With Firebase (Google) – for push notifications, crash reporting, and analytics
With Facebook or Google – only if you use their login option, to authenticate you
With Google Maps – to show your location and nearby points of interest
With service providers who work with us to operate the App or website
As anonymous or aggregate data, for general analysis purposes
When you give us your consent to do so
When we believe in good faith that we are lawfully authorized or required to do so, or that doing so is reasonably necessary to comply with the law or legal process, or respond to lawful requests from authorities
To enforce or apply this Policy or our other agreements
To protect the rights, property, or safety of Travel INGON, our users, or others
In connection with a merger, sale of assets, financing, or acquisition

The App displays information about our sponsors and partner organizations. This is a static display of sponsor content only – we do not share your personal information with sponsors, and we do not use advertising networks that track you.

What Information Can Other Users See?

Heritage information and photos submitted through the website's “Suggest Information” feature are reviewed by us before any public use; submissions we reject are not published. The App itself does not make your profile, selfies, or location visible to other users.

Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics to understand app usage and improve the Service. We do not run third-party advertising networks, and we do not share device identifiers with ad networks.

Links to Other Sites

Travel INGON may contain links to other sites and apps. Any information you provide on those sites is provided directly to the owner of that site and is subject to that party's privacy policy. Our Policy does not apply to such sites, and we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.

What Steps Do We Take To Protect Your Information?

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your Information from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, or alteration. However, no security measures are impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against interception or misuse.

Accessing and Modifying Your Information

If you have an account, you can access and modify certain Information you provided by logging in and editing your profile within the App. To request modifications to Information you cannot edit yourself, please contact us at administration@ingon.ca.

Opting Out

You may opt out of receiving newsletters, marketing emails, and push notifications by changing your account preferences, adjusting your device's notification settings, or following the instructions in those emails. You will still receive transactional messages related to your account and our services.

Deactivating Your Account and Deleting Account Information

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. To deactivate your account or request permanent deletion of your account and all associated Information, please use our Data Deletion Instructions – you do not need the App installed, or to be able to log in, to submit this request. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

International Users

Information is currently processed and stored in Canada, on our servers or within third-party cloud services (including Firebase/Google, which may process data outside Canada). By using Travel INGON, you consent to the collection, transfer, use, storage, and disclosure of your Information as described in this Policy.

Our Policy Toward Children

Travel INGON is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal Information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected personal Information from a child under 13, we will delete it as soon as possible.

Changes to the Policy

Information collected is subject to the Policy in effect at the time of collection. We may modify this Policy from time to time; material changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date, and by continuing to use the Service after changes become effective, you agree to the modified Policy.

Disclosure to Protect Abuse Victims

Notwithstanding any other provision of this Policy, we reserve the right, but have no obligation, to disclose any Information submitted to us if, in our sole opinion, we suspect it involves a party who may be the victim of abuse in any form (including elder abuse, child abuse, spousal abuse, neglect, or domestic violence). Information may be disclosed to authorities we deem appropriate, including law enforcement or child protection agencies.
